Matty Healy The Frontman Of The Band The 1975 — Gets A Tattoo During A Concert And Later… Lets A Fan Get Tattooed By The Same Tattoo Artist He Was Inked By!
By Sidra Lackey
Matty Healy, the lead singer of the UK band, The 1975, recently on a tour stop in Newport, Kentucky — took a break during the show to get a tattoo!, Rolling Stone reports in “First Raw Meat And Now a Tattoo: The 1975’s Matt Healy Concert Antics Continue.”
The video of Healy getting tattooed was captured on video by a fan who captioned the crazy moment as: “when you realize matty healy is getting a tattoo in front of you”
In the video, Healy sits on a couch and smokes while a female tattoo artist dressed as a doctor, starts to truly tattoo him. The 1975 fans go wild and react to the concert tattoo Healy gets by saying: “What the f**k!” and “OMG!” The tattoo Healy got supposedly reads: “I’m a man” according to Rolling Stone. Apparently, Healy is no stranger to strange tour antics from: “eating giant slabs of raw meat mid-performance. He also made out with a fan on stage last month and kissed his bandmate, Ross MacDonald,” Rolling Stone shares.
But it doesn’t stop with Healy getting tattooed himself. He even goes as far as to let a fan get tattooed at the same concert by the same tattoo artist. According to Tyla, an online women’s entertainment magazine, Healy “spotted a fan near the front row who was holding up a sign that read: "Will you draw my [square] tattoo?" - referring to The 1975's signature logo.” He brought her on stage and with a pen, drew the tattoo design for her. The fan tells Healy, "I'm so happy, I'm so happy,” Tyla reports in, “The 1975's Matty Healy brings fan on stage to get a tattoo.” Then when Healy finishes his drawing, “Matty begins his next song, and beckons out a tattoo artist who just so happened to be sitting backstage, so that this fan could get her new ink right away.”
Who is the tattoo artist of Matty Healy? She goes by: B the Tattooer – @bonesawbee on TikTok and @palecurse.b on Instagram. On TikTok, she explained how she ended up tattooing the fan of Healy: "Hi! I've been tattooing them for about 5/6 years now. They had me come to this show, and I'd been tattooing them all day." She said that she was, “originally there to give Matty a tattoo on stage” but was “called back out unexpectedly when Matty spotted the fan's sign” Tyla tells. On B the Tattooer’s Instagram, on the tattoo she gave Matty Healy on stage she says: “Can’t wait to tell the full story on this later! Who went to this?! I would love to see any pics/footage! I’ll also answer what I can if anyone has Qs! I’ll post a full story w/ video later!”
Well, this seems to be a first, a musician getting tattooed during their own concert. It is pretty cool. It isn’t probably very sanitary however. The fan part on the flip side, getting tattooed too at the concert… may be a bit much. But it was really great of Matty Healy to draw The 1975’s logo on his fan.
Tattoo artists, how sanitary/unsanitary was it for Matty Healy to get the on stage tattoo? If a musician wanted you to tattoo them during a show, would you do it? Or would you tell them to stop by your studio instead to get it done?
