Tattoo Artist Steve Wiebe’s Artistic Designs Are Featured On Jayson Tatum’s Air Jordan 4 PE Sneakers

Celebrity tattoo artist Steve Wiebe has tattooed Boston Celtics basketball player Jayson Tatum’s body with some impressive tattoo artwork in the past. Presently, Wiebe has lent his artistic designs to Tatum’s Air Jordan 4 PE sneaker collaboration.

Steve Wiebe designs new Jordans

Sneaker Freaker reports this isn’t the first time Wiebe has collaborated with Michael Jordan’s sneaker brand — in 2018 he had his own Air Jordan 10 collaboration. This second time around, five years later, it’s the Air Jordan 4s for Jayson Tatum that Wiebe’s art shows up on.

“Taking heavy inspiration from Tatum’s fairly extensively tattooed body, Wiebe applies a similar finish to the detailed upper of these AJ4s. Using a black, white and red configuration reminiscent of the ‘Bred’ OG, the substituted canvas upper sets a useful foundation for the graphic treatment that covers heel to toe. The frayed panel edges also add textural depth to the already busy appearance, but factory-spec rubberised mesh inserts on the tongue and sides, plus translucent lace ‘wings’ help ground the concept. This milky yellow color also appears on the heel tab and outsole,” Sneaker Freaker gives the scoop on the Steve Wiebe x Air Jordan 4 PE Jayson Tatum partnership.

Sneaker News describes Wiebe’s Air Jordan 4s for Tatum as: “having been contracted to ink a myriad of personal pieces that draw direct inspiration from Tatum’s roots, the work sprawled across the four-time All-Star’s back and legs have now been rendered into a collaborative denim-coated Air Jordan 4 PE. The distressed textured upper features a jet-black base layer while the detailed hand-drawn imagery of the Celtics forward’s tattoos coats the entirety of the model in a light cream contrast. Save the tongue’s grid-layered construction and the midfoot’s side vent, the neutral wash of cream returns to outfit the semi-translucent overlays and heel tab while its midsole underfoot pairs with a crisp white heel and vibrant red thread.”

Bad news however, for Steve Wiebe and Jayson Tatum fans: “As with many Player Exclusives, it’s best not to anticipate pairs of these ever reaching a retail release. However, with the proliferation of sample collectors and extremely well-connected sneakerheads out there, don’t be surprised if these 4s end up in the hands of people not named Jayson Tatum," Sneaker Freaker shares.

Sneaker Freaker suggests while waiting for more updates on the Steve Wiebe x Air Jordan 4 PE for Jayson Tatum to: “Check out these shots by brand associate: @uninstructedvision
