Father Writes Children’s Book On Tattoo Awareness After His Daughter Started Asking Questions About His Tattoos — Tattoo Artist Corey Miller Illustrates It

Victor Ledesma, a father from California, decided to write a book about tattoos for children. He tells Fresno television station KFSN-TV, that the idea for the book started with a question from his daughter.

“One day my daughter was asking me questions about my tattoos while I'm getting ready for work and I thought to myself, are there children's books about tattoos? There should be stuff about children's awareness of tattoos,” Ledesma told ABC30 News. He then thought to turn the idea into reality when he asked his tattoo artist, Corey Miller, to illustrate the book.

Corey Miller is a well-known tattoo artist that has worked alongside the very in demand tattoo artist Kat Von D, on the reality show LA Ink. He currently has his own tattoo studio called Six Feet Under, located in Upland, California. Miller says on being asked to illustrate a client’s children’s book about tattoos, “Usually my artwork walks out the door, so to lay it out in a book like this is a cool experience for me.”

Ledesma’s children’s book on ink is entitled: Oh! So Curious About Tattoos. The biggest bookstore in the book world, Barnes & Nobles, sets the description of Oh! So Curious About Tattoos as: “This book is about how a little 5-year-old girl named Amelia is curious about her father's tattoos. Her curiosity leads to questions that she asks her father throughout the book, such as why her father chose his tattoos, what are the different types and styles of tattoos, and ultimately her wanting a tattoo when she is older.” Miller remarks, “The story is incredibly common too and we found that out more especially as we took the book to tattoo shows and people are like, my kids always ask me about my tattoos, I always want to tell them something.”

Oh! So Curious About Tattoos was published last year by Ledesma and Miller. And in just months, it was on two Barnes & Nobles best sellers list, according to ABC30 News. “When we first released it got up to number 4 on their best seller which was really surprising,” Miller tells ABC30 News. “We had to take a step back. It was kind of overwhelming. It's like someone made a mistake right? We had to go to a Barnes & Nobles and have a manager explain it to us and say is this correct?” Ledesma recalls to KFSN-TV.

Victor Ledesma’s book was a really great (and cool) idea to introduce into the children’s market of book publishing. It seems perfect for parents who are tattooed and good for their curious children — to have perhaps an easier way to explain (on the parent’s end) and understand (on the children’s end) about tattoos.

Tattoo collectors who are parents, would you buy Victor Ledesma’s book on tattoo awareness for your child or children to explain your own tattoos?
